Welcome to Sage to Silver!
I’m Kaylene, but everyone calls me Kay. I was born and raised in Portland, Oregon and currently live down the street from my childhood home in a fun neighborhood called Multnomah Village.
I work at an Athletic Center for a Sports Apparel Company, which I love and cherish and on my off time I enjoy crafting, cooking, exploring, decorating…basically anything that I can try something new and learn in the process. I started this blog to share my journeys and inspire others to be creative and make time to do the things that make them happy.
My inspiration behind Sage to Silver comes from my family. My grandmother’s house was the first place I fell in love with décor. My grandparents lived in a beautiful white and brick home with a back yard that seemed as kids, to go on forever. It was always so neat and perfect, pristine, and everything had a place; something you would see in the pages of a magazine. I continued my love for decorating with my mother who made the holidays something I looked forward to all year long. In addition to decorating, I learned my love of cooking and baking, gardening, and crafting from my family. It is truly something I hold dear because of the sweet memories it has created and the lessons I have learned, which include two things from my mother and her mother; always cleanse your home with sage and keep good silver in the house. These two lessons together represent my style in a perfect way; earthy to classic and everything in between.
Back in 2006, I was introduced to a sweet, smiley guy named Tyler by a high school friend; he changed my life in so many ways and we married in 2012. He inspires me every day to be happy, not worry about the small stuff and most of all to be myself.
We now live in a sweet 1920’s farm house in my favorite part of town, a neighborhood full of small local owned shops and great food. On our off time, we enjoy going outdoors, trying new restaurants, cooking together, traveling and working towards our dreams of owning our dream house with a big backyard, add some animals to the family, including a big dream of mine…owning a goat!
A few other things that make me, me is my love for fall and obsession with Halloween, I start planning months in advance. I rarely go a day without coffee because it’s just the best thing and it is usually iced (unless its fall…pumpkin spice lattes!!) and I LOVE ice cream. History and ancestry are a couple other of my off time hobbies, I work on my family tree, read stories from the past and I incorporate history into all my travel plans so that I can stand in the spot where the history happened.
Every day brings the opportunity to make great experiences and beautiful memories, which is what inspires the creative in me because meaningful experiences are created also. I hope my stories inspire you to do what you love and live for the moments.
