Fourth of July is a day of celebration full of sun, music, fireworks and of course, good food. This holiday is the ultimate barbecue, but the flavors don’t have to stop there! Summer drinks and delicious desserts round out this list of patriotic foods. Whether you are hosting or just bringing a dish, these recipes are perfect to celebrate with.
Fourth of July is right around the corner, I can’t believe it is already that time! I enjoy most holidays, between the months of October and December I am a happy little clam, cooking, baking, decorating, hosting, that is what the holidays are for, right? Fourth of July is no different, it’s like Christmas in July! Except, it’s warm and the presents come in the form of fireworks, food, and sun. It is the ultimate summer party!
The first party I ever hosted was a fourth of July party. I was in middle school and I asked my mom if I could put on a summer bash. She gave the thumbs up and I took off with the planning. Of course, being who I am the decor and the food were the main events. I decked out our back yard with red, white and blue and planned an amazing spread. It’s a tradition that has been repeated for years to come; although this year is a no-go, who else is bummed the fourth lands on a Wednesday? I may not be putting on a party, but I will be eating these classic summer foods. If you are hosting, attending or just enjoying the day these dishes should be added to your list.
Creamy Filled Patriotic Fruit Tarts | An Italian in My Kitchen
Let’s start out with a patriotic bang! These fruit tarts are so adorable and very fitting for the celebration. Filled with mascarpone or cream cheese, topped with fresh berries and all sitting in a flaky pastry cup. Add these to the party spread for a beautiful presentation, very Instagram worthy if you ask me.
Parmesan Garlic Grilled Corn | Tara’s Multicultural Table
It’s not fourth of July without a good ear of corn. Smothered in butter and sprinkled with Parmesan cheese. Grilled (which is my favorite way to make corn) for a lovely charred flavor. Your guests will be happy to see these cooking on the grill.
Tomato Avocado Cucumber Salad | Joyful Healthy Eats
This salad is a great healthier option to cut through all the heavy dishes. It is super easy to make with fresh ingredients and it is gluten free and vegetarian friendly. You only need a few ingredients to make this light, refreshing salad.
Sparkling Blueberry Lemonade | Chelsea’s Messy Apron
With every BBQ, you need a drink to cool off with and to wash those delicious treats down. This sparkling blueberry lemonade will do the trick. It’s a kid friendly drink that is packed full of flavor and is so easy to make. The color is beautiful and the flavors bold, have a pitcher of this your guests are sure to be pleased.
Chantilly Cake | Lemons for Lulu
These little pop in your mouth cakes look so descendant and have that lovely patriotic vibe. Made with white cake donuts and filled with almond cream cheese frosting (uh, yum!) Topped with fresh berries and dusted with powered sugar completes these adorable festive bites.
Bacon Cheeseburger Sliders | Merry About Town
What is a summer BBQ without a burger, uh I will tell you, not a good BBQ! These bacon cheeseburger sliders are perfect for a fourth of July party. Buttery buns, melty cheese and crispy bacon, what more do you need!? Oh yea, and those pickles stacked right on top. Yum!
Pigs in Blankets | Martha Stewart
These pigs in blankets are a great finger food for the buffet table. They are really easy to make and have Dijon mustard brushed right onto the puff pastry. Speaking of the puff pastry, the flaky, fluffy texture adds crunch to the delicious frankfurter sausage.
Red White and Blue Frozen Sangria | The Fitchen
This may be the most beautiful drink I have ever seen. This red, white and blue layered frozen sangria screams fourth of July and is stunning. The vibrant colors show that this is packed full of flavors, including raspberry, white wine and a little gin.
Sweet & Tangy Broccoli Salad | Sage to Silver
A summer salad from yours truly! This is probably, okay not probably, absolutely my favorite salad. It is my go-to dish to bring to a summer party and it is always a crowd pleaser. Broccoli provides a crunch that pairs perfect with the golden raisins and it has bacon! okay, enough said.
Homemade Raspberry Sorbet | Bigger Bolder Baking
A gorgeous sorbet made with the classic summer berry, the raspberry! No ice cream machine needed for this scrumptious recipe, so you know what that means, another easy to make recipe. And when I say easy to make, I mean two ingredient easy to make. Serve this as a cool down dessert at your Independence Day party and your guests will be coming back for seconds.
