Cook Time15 minutes
Total Time35 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 store-bought pizza dough
  • 1/2 pound Italian sausage
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 1/2 cups baby shiitake mushrooms or cremini
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup fontina cheese
  • red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  • Pre-heat oven to 425° and grease a baking sheet or line with a baking mat.
  • Set the pizza dough out on the counter at least 10 minutes before you plan to start cooking to bring to room temperature.
  • On a lightly floured surface, push and roll out dough until very thin, about a 10-12 inch circle. Transfer to prepared baking sheet.
  • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, heat 1 tablespoon of the olive oil. Add the Italian sausage and cook until cooked and browned. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  • Add garlic and saute until fragrant. Add the mushrooms and cook just until soft; about 3-5 minutes.
  • Spread the remaining tablespoon over the dough and sprinkle the dried basil on top.
  • Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese over the dough. Add the sausage and mushrooms and top with the fontina cheese.
  • Bake for 10 - 15 minutes or until the crust is crisp and browned and the cheese is melted.
  • Remove from the oven and sprinkle with red pepper flakes. ENJOY!
