A refreshing, sweet, tangy summer drink with ginger ale and grapefruit juice. This drink comes together in minutes and is a cool sip on a hot day.

Hi There! These last few weekends have been so nice; summer is here! I have been enjoying my weekends gardening, sun bathing and going on afternoon walks. Not bad, right!? Of course in addition to all that, I have been enjoying my favorite summer foods…and drinks of course!
Who doesn’t love a slushy drink on a hot summers day? When the sun starts coming out, the backyard barbecues begin and you have to have a refreshing drink to pair with those burgers. Make it a slushy one!
There is something about a slushy drink that I just love. I don’t know if it is because it seems like a dessert and drink in one, but I devour them! Side note, I love slushy Gatorade. Anyone else with me!? A few years back I had to get my tonsils out and I swear, slushy gatorade is the only thing that got me through that.

Anyways, this grapefruit ginger slush has become one of my favorites. Last summer I made a Peach Wine Slush that was a hit and got me to love white wine (I have never been much of a wine drinker) but this year I wanted to create a drink with one of my favorite ingredients; ginger.
Ginger and I go way back. I have had a sensitive tummy since I can remember and ginger is the only thing that will sooth it. So why not put it in everything, right?! Okay, maybe not everything but I have made some great ginger recipes through the years like these Strawberry Ginger Cupcakes with Fluffy White Frosting or this Ginger Cranberry Gin Fizz and this Blood Orange Ginger Mimosa. Okay, I think it’s safe to say I love ginger.

What I love about this drink is the surprising pairing of ginger and grapefruit. They go together so well! It is the perfect blend between tangy and sweet and a little kick from the bourbon. This drink comes together in minutes which makes it really easy if you are hosting. There is not freezing required, just make sure to have a lot of ice cubes ready.
This recipe would also be great with vodka or gin, so put your favorite liquor in. Take out the liquor for a great summer drink for the kiddos!
What is your favorite summer drink? Let me know in the comments!
